No mention of the actual parents was made, not even by other characters in the party that would have also known them. When the memory was restored at the end of the quest, it was a memory of a randomly generated, completely different set of parents. Later in the campaign, after the parents had died/retired, their son was given a quest with a set of comics in which he would learn of his mysterious past, revealing that he apparently had no memory of his childhood or parents. Over the course of one of my campaigns, two of my heroes fell in love and had a son who eventually grew up and joined the group. The problem is that the game does a terrible job of marrying these short stories to the gameplay, the broader narrative, to your characters, and even to each other. These comics are randomly distributed across a generated map and usually accompanied by a routine combat encounter (often a "setup" comic before and a "resolution" comic after the encounter), which you'll unlock as you explore and clear more regions of your map. Wildermyth is a collection of interesting short stories and ambient conversations that come in sets of small comic strips acted out by your own custom cast of characters. If you're only here for this game's gameplay and intend to skip the story, go ahead and get it. Let me preface by saying that the combat, especially the magic system, is quite good, as is the skill tree.
